A Normal website application can take around 2-3 days , if you already have domain name and wish to use it with our packages then you must request your current registrar to release this domain to us. If you have access to the domain control panel then this process will take an additional 24 hours for your domain to move over. 

 

If you have special requirements with the layout or header then the website process can take a few days longer. The more information you can provide to use on your application the faster we can get you online. 

Most of our customers have migrated from existing networks such as Auto Trader , Auto Exposure etc... It is important to remember that you might be in a fixed contract or required to give a couple of weeks notice for your domain to be released to us. 

 

If you do have to wait a couple of weeks for your contract to expire , we can setup your website and allow you to start adding stock etc in the interim. On the day your domain is migrated over we will get you live within a couple of hours. 

The Dealer Package is connected to multiple databases and has a wide range of additional services operating in the background. As the system is dynamic and not fixed HTML migrating the software to a 3rd party hosting server is not possible and would cause many security risks to our business.

 

If you decide to leave Stocklist Manager , we cannot migrate your website to another hosting provider but we export vehicle data to a .CSV or Excel file if required. 

You can use any domain name with our packages aslong as you are the registered owner of the domain and have access to the domain control panel. All packages include a free domain so if you already have a domain name and wish to monitor and pay for the renewal we will deduct £9.99 from overall package cost. 

 

If you are paying for your own domain renewals you will still be required to pay the £49.99 annual support fee. 

Yes , it is possible to have different website addresses using the same package. For example if you have a (.COM) & (.CO.UK) domains registered you can point all addresses to the same stocklist. Extra domains can be purchased through us or you can let us know your new domain name and we will add it for you.

 

- Which name servers do I need to use for my domain ?

 

When you register a domain name you are given a login and password to access the settings , once logged into your control panel , click on the domain you wish to update and click ( Name Servers ) and enter the below data into each field.

If we registered your domain for you we will renew your domain once we have received your annual support fee. If we dont receive your renewal fee you might loose your domain name. If you own your own domain then you are responsible for the renewal.

 

This is called URL Masking , what happens is when a customer visits your website they are actually browsing a different webpage but the URL " e.g your Domain Name " remains in the address bar until you click on a link within that page.

 

For that professional appearance our packages use virtual directory technology which allows us to point your domain exactly to your directory , once your customer visits your website they will remain within that directory and your domain name will not change. 

 

The Dealer Package is custom built software that uses a fixed XHTML structure to ensure that it is compatible with various browsers , suitable for all screen-sizes and search engine friendly. Each package has a unique custom style applied to it and can be quickly modified at a later date if required. 

 

Custom building would be to expensive and would not be beneficial to our business, dealers looking for a custom built PHP / MySQL site with the same amount of features as our network would be looking to pay around £1000.00.

Yes , you can have a flash header if required with any effect you wish.  It is important to remember that flash sites are not popular with Google as it is not possible for Google to crawl your website for text / data which usually helps when increasing your page rank. The only flash we allow is the main header which is 960x300px the rest of the site is default tables and text.

You can advertise as many vehicles as you wish , either its 5 , 10 or 100 there is no limit on the number of vehicles you can have on your website. If you do have a lot of stock advertised you might wish to limit the number of vehicles advertised on each page,  you can adjust this to 5 > 50 from the settings tab from within the control panel. 

 

* You must have the legal right to advertise each vehicle , advertising stock for 3rd party dealers without consent is not permitted and only the website owner or employees are allowed to access the control panel. 

You can keep stock advertised for as long as you wish , there is no limits on maximum duration you can have stock advertised. If you have stock on for 12 months it will remain listed until either marked sold or deleted by you. 

 

* If you wish to temporarily move vehicles into pending mode they will not be visible on your website but can be accessed at a later date if required from the control panel. 

You can upload 6 vehicle photos at once by using our photo management tool , un-like other systems you can batch upload which means you can leave all the photos uploading at once. Each photo is resized to 600x480 and a high quality thumbnail is created for each photo. You have the option to display full inline photos or thumbnail view. 

 

If you don't have a vehicle photo at present a temporally image will be displayed until you upload a new photo. You can edit your photos or remove them from the photo management tool. If you advertise on eBay you can use the URL image paths to save you re-uploading the same photos twice on two systems.

 

* Please remember to check your camera settings before taking pictures , the resolution you should be using should be less than 1280x780. If you have a fast broadband you might be able to upload higher res pictures. 

As we are guaranteed 99.98% uptime there is a 0.02% chance of your website being temporarily offline , like most IT equipment everything needs patching , upgrading and repairing and sometimes you might experience a website outage. We expect all sites to be back online within 24 hours in any occurrence. 

 

In any event of a disaster recovery scenario we will install your website on a new server within a couple of days and you will be back online with all existing stock and functions. 

If you are having problems uploading please try the following.

 

1. Check the file size of the photo it should be around 150-250kb.

2. Try uploading just one photo.

3. Try uploading at a different time , sometimes upload speeds can vary during the day and night.

If you decide you need a IMAP or POP account we will send you the instructions to configure your mail client. We only recommend experienced users to have these types of mail accounts or businesses with offices and remote email access requirements. . 

If you cannot login to your inbox , it could be possible that the mail server is offline. If it has been longer than 24 hours and still cannot access your inbox please contact us at support@stocklistmanager.com. 

Advertise your website in many ways as possible , either its on your stationary , invoices or even on your vehicles. The more places your site is advertised online the better ranking you will obtain.  For a basic indication on how many hits your site is getting a counter has been added to each site. This can be found at the bottom of your stocklist and can be reset from the domains tab from within the control panel. 

 

The majority of sole traders advertise from home addresses which can cause problems when advertising your address online as the last thing you want is people turning up at 6am on Sunday morning, simply disable the map from the control panel and remove your house number / street name from the information tab.

 

If you still want the map but on a area view only but wish to hide your postcode please let us know and we will manually enter your address.
